Orange Hawkweed

At this time of year, bright orange flowers begin to appear in the garden, a bit of a pest to us gardeners sometimes, but absolute heaven for pollinators.

Hawkweed is rife in our garden, it invades planters, borders and paving with it's furry leaves and deep roots, but the bees love it and it does add a cheery splash of deep orange to the view. We dig up quite a lot but there is no fear of it disappearing...its all about remembering to nip off the dead flower heads before they go to seed, they look a bit like a tiny dandelion clock and the seeds will travel far on the wind.
